Well, I finally did it - this is my first blog, ever! I never thought I would do such a thing, but I guess it is time to join the 21st century!
My focus is primarily storybooking and preserving our heritage. I don't feel it is too far from my focus of the past twenty years - lactation counseling and helping new parents feel good about their new role in life.
I believe in the power of story. I believe that our children have a better sense of themselves when they know where they come from. I believe we all desire to know more about our ancestry. I believe in the awesome power of community. I believe that
"photos without stories are memories lost" (by Dr. Sharon Murdoch). I believe it is a tragedy that we are losing our heritage and sense of belonging.
So, I am now happy to say I have found another new role to enjoy - that of Heritage Maker. I feel good about helping others to re-discover their own heritage as well.
I hope this blog will be useful to those who want to learn more, be inspired, and to see what is new on the horizon. And above all, I hope this is fun!
